The Actor’s Instrument is a series of exercises, games, and etudes that are all geared to bringing deeper awareness of the actor’s body and exploring it’s potential for expression. Too often, we move throughout our days following a routine of home-work-home and the body spends the majority of this time seated. We gesture as we speak, often times unaware whether we are expending unnecessary energy to do so or actually emphasizing a point we are trying to make. The goal of this workshop was to re-member and reconnect with our body’s impulses, explore the versatile range of expression attainable, and learn how to be intuitive with what our bodies should be doing in performance.
