As part of the Residency and Workshop program, and with the aim of building an industry for independent music in Egypt and structuring independent music activity, Studio Emad Eddin, in collaboration with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Egypt Music Network offered two sound workshops held on the fringe of an ‘Independent Music Festival’ in Alexandria, Egypt.

Low-Budget Audio Recording Workshop – By Charlie Schaloske (Sweden)

Music Production & Management Workshop – By Michael McMartin (Australia), the workshop also included lectures by Egyptian music professionals

Lecture in Music Production & Management – By Michael McMartin (Australia), Executive Director of IMMF (The International Music Managers’ Forum)
The workshops held on the fringe of the Independent Music Festival, aimed to develop the knowledge of music production techniques in audio as well as in management, and to empower the independent music production process, focusing on exchange between participants of each workshop and the workshops themselves.

The two workshops worked in a close collaboration helping to multiply the benefits for the participants and to facilitate the process of:
• Producing an audio compilation CD and promotional kit (biography/ photos/ video/ technical rider) for future volunteer music groups*.
• Allowing young independent musicians, manager/producers and sound engineers to be put together in a situation where deep confidence can develop, in order that they can work together more productively in the future.

The workshops were also supported by: Dramatic Institute (Sweden), Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy (Egypt), Hi-Hat Music Solutions (Alexandria – Egypt)
