From 2nd – 13th of April 2007 at Studio Emad Eddin

This workshop was run in cooperation with The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Cairo.

Unlike the dramaturgy workshop held in 2006, this workshop was designed specifically for directors and dramaturges. It focused on how to build a theatrical performance through analyzing, structuring and composing text material, by interpreting the text according to the playwright’s intention and translating it into dramatic situations on stage. Stress was laid on the threefold function of the dramaturge, as a link between the world at large and the world on stage, as an interface for the artistic team that creates a production, and as a representative of the theater maker(s) in the field of local, cultural politics.
