Living Together-CAIRO was intended to bring Egyptians and refugees of all nationalities together to work for common benefits. The project aimed at building capacity in the member organizations of Tadamon – the Egyptian/refugee Multicultural Council, while initiating a large public campaign to promote diversity as a positive resource in Cairo. Co-ordinating the effort of concerned organizations and individuals, sharing knowledge, developing new initiatives and effectively communicating these, were central parts of the project.

The Training of Trainers (ToT) was offered to a diverse group of representatives from multicultural community-based organizations. The ToT provided the trainers with insight on multicultural project management as well as concrete tools, e.g. making presentations in a professional setting; writing a project concept statement; convening a meeting & managing group dynamic; conducting a publicity campaign etc.

The training was combined with practical experience from local cases of community outreach, business/fairtrade, gender/diversity, implementing an event, and/or creating new initiatives. Moreover, the ToT encouraged networking among the participants, who at the end of the training received a diploma qualifying them as ‘Living Together Ambassadors’. The participants were encouraged to pass on the experience and knowledge to their organizations, while continuing to participate to the project Living Together-CAIRO.
